Follow the Ospreys

As the Jamie Durie family builds their family home on the Pittwater in Avalon.

It appears a different family has decided to move in first.

Perched on top of the crane (which is meant to be used for Jamie’s Growing Home build) our feathered friends are busy creating their own family.

It’s no secret that Jamie Durie doesn’t do things by halves but this time the environmentalist, internationally award winning landscape designer, seven-time Logie winning host of shows such as Backyard Blitz, The Block and many more, is embarking on the biggest challenge of his career.

Jamie is building the most sustainable, luxury home he can for his family. He’s building in one of the most sensitive and difficult sites in Australia and he’s doing it in front of Australia and bearing all the ups and downs that go with it. And we’re following that journey every step of the way on Growing Home.

“After 26 years making TV shows all over the world, this is the show I’ve always wanted to make and if we’re creating a show around sustainability, then my family and I need to do it first and practice what we preach,” says Jamie.

Growing Home is coming soon, Prime Time on Channel 7 and we can’t wait for you to share this journey.

From The Ground Up

Growing Home is a brand new prime time series that captures the journey of couples around Australia building their best version of sustainable homes.

Series 1, follows Jamie Durie, OAM and his partner, singer/songwriter Ameka Jane as they build their luxury dream home with off-grid capability in Sydney’s stunning Northern Beaches.

“After five long years, planning and researching the most eco-friendly partners, methods and technologies we can possibly find, we’re finally ready to build this house. And we can’t wait to share our journey with you.” Jamie Durie, OAM

“I think there is a common misconception that ‘sustainable’ or ‘eco-friendly’ means that it’s complicated or that we have to compromise on style and function. We want to show Australia how easy and accessible it is to create a green home, on any scale. Small changes can make a big impact. I was a green novice at the start of this mission, so if I can do it – anyone can.”

We follow the chaos as the cement trucks arrive on site. We watch as hundreds of skilled craftsman, incredible builders, architects, and expert partners in the industry all put their best green foot forward to map out a more sustainable way to build this extraordinary home and showcase what a greener future for all Aussies could look like.

Follow us on our social channels for exclusive behind-the-scenes content and updates on the project and stay connected through all of our incredible partners’ outlets as we embark on this Australian eco-adventure.
